The Stuckeman School has 5 Universal Laser Cutters available for use by students and faculty within the Stuckeman School and the School of Visual Arts. Outside students taking elective coursed offered by Stuckeman and SoVA may also be granted access if required by the course.
Machine access is 24/7 for authorized users. Orientation and Safety Training is required.
ACCESS REQUIREMENT: In-Person Orientation
An in-person orientation is required. This 2hr session will cover file preparation, machine setup, operation, and safety.
We typically schedule orientations in coordination with studio classes. Additional sessions can be arranged upon request.
***We will not be scheduling any addition sessions this semester.
ACCESS REQUIREMENT: EHS Online Laser Cutter Safety Course
Penn State Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requires that all users of high power lasers on campus complete one of their online laser safety courses.
•Visit the website: lrn.psu.edu and log in with your psu credentials. VPN may be required from off-campus.
•Complete the course “EHS – Laser Safety Training for Laser Cutters”.
•Email a pdf copy of your completion certificate to us. Email: digifab@psu.edu

TO RESERVE LASER CUTTING TIME (Trained and authorized users)
Users are permitted to reserve 1 hour of laser time in advance.
To RESERVE Time for a Laser Cutter, you can either:
- Go physically to the DigiFab Lab in the basement of the Stuckeman Family Building.
- Zoom with the DigiFab Assistants during operating hours.
- Join our ZoomRoom by typing “digifab” as the Meeting ID.
* You may reserve a single upcoming 1-hour time slot.
